NOTES ON THE PERFORMANCE
Since its first performance in 1963, Franco Zeffirelli’s La bohème has enchanted generations of spectators and involved a by-now endless list of eminent interpreters. The June and July 2017 performances will be a La Scala debut for Sonya Yoncheva, who since her triumph in the Metropolitan in 2014, also in the role of Mimì, has conquered the stages of the greatest theatres in the world. Alongside Sonya, alternating in the role with Aylin Perez who received ovations in the revival in 2015, is a cast consisting of the finest voices Italy has to offer: Fabio Sartori, Simone Piazzola, Mattia Olivieri and Carlo Colombara. On the podium will be Evelino Pidò, a conductor who comes from the orchestra of La Scala whose brilliant international career has seen him regularly conducting new productions in London, Vienna and New York.
